PODS AT THE VILLAGE IN HOWARD

What is a pod?

Groups of members in a distinct neighborhood and/or with a special interest who meet regularly to build friendships, support each other, share information, and engage in the community.

What's the purpose of a pod?

To facilitate close friendships and fun activities that keep our members active and engaged to lead meaningful lives while aging in place.

How do I join a pod?

Email pods@thevillageinhoward.org and let us know your area of interest. Tell us if you prefer a neighborhood pod, a special interest pod or want to create your own pod. The Pod Committee will assist you in creating a pod or joining an existing one.

What are the types of pods?

Neighborhood pods: These Pods are for members who live in a pre-defined neighborhood such as Hickory Ridge or Ellicott City. These Pods are generally 4-10 people as the group may meet in smaller spaces.
Special interest pod: These Pods pull members with a common interest such as solo aging, or nature walks together for an activity. These Pods generally have a larger group of participants.

What are the current pods?

Neighborhood: Ellicott City. Harper’s Choice. Hickory Ridge. Tamar.
Special interests: Live Performances. Men’s. Outdoor. Solo Agers. Women’s.

Are there pod coordinators?

Each Pod has a Point of Contact (POC) or Coordinator that communicates with the Pod Committee Chair regarding dates, times and location of meetings for the TVIH calendar, and who emails the members in their group the logistics of the meetings. Each Pod group decides together on the size of the group and how meetings will happen

What are pod requirements?

Members agree to participate regularly in the Pod meetings and notify their Coordinator when unable to attend. Members abide by any norms agreed upon by the Pod regarding confidentiality, respect, and conversation guidelines.

May I change or join multiple pods?

Yes. Members that wish to join Pods are welcome to contact the various Pod Coordinators and/or the Pods Committee Chair at Pods@thevillageinhoward.org. Special interest pods are open to all members. And members are encouraged to suggest new ideas for additional Pods.

What are the pod guidelines?

The Village in Howard is a 501(c)3 non-profit education and service organization. The TVIH board has determined that contentious, especially political, topics are not appropriate to our mission or the purposes of our non-profit charter.

How do I contact the Pods Committee?

You can reach out to the committee with any requests, questions or concerns: pods@thevillageinhoward.org
