Today's Dances: YMCA and Cha Cha Slide
Dancing is a whole-body workout that's actually fun. It's good for your heart, it makes you stronger, and it can help with balance and coordination.
A 30-minute dance class burns between 130 and 250 calories, about the same as jogging.
We will learn the dances by watching a dance video and following the steps. Videos by DJ Raphi and other dance instructors will be chosen. Each session will start with a five minute stretch exercise to warm up the muscles. Then we go through 30 minutes of dance tutorials. The focus might be on the footwork, but the series of steps, turns, shimmies, and cha-chas engage the entire body.
List of dances we will learn: Y.M.C.A.(Village People), Macarena, electric slide line dance, twist, cha cha slide dance, Gangnam Style dance, and Michael Jackson’s Thriller dance.
