Host: Monica Lewis
Today's topicCEI Bringing People and Nature Together

Fall has arrived and it’s a wonderful time of year to explore locally. Join us in welcoming Monica Lewis from the Community Ecology Institute (CEI). Their mission is to enhance community health and well-being by connecting with people and our environment. We will learn about the Freetown Farm facility in Columbia and the many programs they offer promoting connections to nature, civic ecology, community health and climate action. For a sneak preview you may visit the website at

About our Guest Speaker

Monica Lewis is the Vice President of CEI and has been a health educator and certified fitness instructor for over twenty years. She has a BS in Clinical Laboratory Science and a Master’s degree in Nutrition. She previously worked in the county promoting healthy environments in areas facing health disparities; advocating for community gardens and increased access to fresh fruits and vegetables and environments for physical activity. While living in Wisconsin, she developed a deep love of sustainable food systems and environmental wellness while partnering with a farm. She continues to foster the same passion and desire with partnering with CEI. She currently works at HCC as an adjunct and MLT clinical coordinator.

The Zoom session will be recorded.

Come to join us for our “Good Morning, Howard!”  zoom group.  We will be following the new schedule as listed below:

Wednesday at 9:00 AM

Our goal is to provide Howard County residents an opportunity to come together in a relaxed atmosphere, to meet with others, and to participate in the discussion/activities of Health and Wellness. Our content may include using technology to connect with family and friends, gardening, exercise, music, movies, jokes, popular websites, and healthy diet.

Participation is easy because driving is not required. This social program is for TVIH members and older adults from Howard County.

Volunteers (TVIH members) will take turns to serve as the hosts of the GMH zoom meetings. The hosts will greet the participants, make introductions, and give the feedback/suggestions back to the membership committee.

Most people will join by using their computer, tablet or smartphone. To join, you need a zoom meeting link. The link will be emailed to you after you register.

To Join Zoom Meeting by using a smartphone, dial 1-929-205-6099. You will be prompted to enter the meeting ID and the password.  If you are prompted to enter a personal ID, simply press the # sign.

The person using a phone can hear everyone and can talk.  He/she cannot be seen on other people’s screens.

Zoom link will be provided upon registration.
