This is a monthly program. Hebrew, French, Spanish, Norwegian, Hindi, and Chinese classes were offered on the third Wednesday each month. 

Instructor: Martha Chaiklin

Martha Chaiklin, daughter of TVIH member Sharon Chaiklin, will teach basic Japanese language. She spent over 15 years in Japan. 1980-1981, 1983-1996, 2018-2019, and a number of stays for a month or two or a few weeks in between.


This presentation will examine Japanese language from its origins to modern forms. It will cover pronunciation, writing systems, writing styles and historical changes with a brief discussion of some of the literature available in translation that represents these aspects of Japanese language.
