Project Linus: Hand-Crafted Blankets and Comfort for Sick Children
One of the most lovable pop-culture characters, Linus van Pelt, is forever attached to his blanket in the “Peanuts” world created by cartoonist Charles Schultz. The blanket provides the sensitive Linus with a sense of security, warmth, comfort…and love. With those same purposes in mind, the nationwide non-profit organization “Project Linus” collects and distributes new, handmade blankets to children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need. Blankets made from a variety of materials—quilted, knitted, crocheted, and fleece—are lovingly crafted by volunteer “blanketeers,” ranging in age from elementary school children to senior citizens.
The Anne Arundel/Howard County chapter is one of the hundreds of Project Linus chapters spread throughout the country. Chapter Coordinator Linda Gorman, joined by Assistant Coordinator Karla Castner, will discuss the work done by this inspiring organization, how the blankets uplift the spirits of the children who receive them, and opportunities to get involved. Through the gift of a blanket and its deep commitment to bring joy both to recipients and volunteers, Project Linus offers handmade, one-of-a-kind comfort and love.

Come to join us for our new “Good Morning, Howard!” zoom group. We will be following the new schedule as listed below:
Monday & Wednesday at 9:00 AM
Our goal is to provide Howard County residents an opportunity to come together in a relaxed atmosphere, to meet with others, and to participate in the discussion/activities of Health and Wellness. Our content may include using technology to connect with family and friends, gardening, exercise, music, movies, jokes, popular websites, and healthy diet.
Participation is easy because driving is not required. This social program is for TVIH members and older adults from Howard County. This program was popular in August and is continuing in September.
Volunteers (TVIH members) will take turns to serve as the hosts of the GMH zoom meetings. The hosts will greet the participants, make introductions, and give the feedback/suggestions back to the membership committee.
Most people will join by using their computer, tablet or smartphone. To join, you need a zoom meeting link. The link will be emailed to you after you register.
