Virtual "Hooked on Books" Book Club
Description: A Book Club Discussion group that is interested in reading literary fiction, historical fiction, memoirs—books that will lend themselves to good discussions. We meet on the first Tuesday, every other month: February, April, June, August, October, December.
For the month of April, we will be reading Atul Gawande’s Being Mortal
Karol Hess will lead a second online Zoom discussion of Atul Gawande’s Being Mortal. This best-selling 2014 book inspired widespread growth of the Village-to-Village aging in place movement, including our TVIH chapter. Gawande trained as a surgeon, and his parents were both physicians as well. Yet the lessons they learned during his father’s terminal illness related to cultural traditions, dignity, family love, personal preferences, and legacy, not just safe but isolating medical protocols.
Hooked on Books welcomes you to our free Tuesday afternoon Zoom discussions every other month. Also, we welcome your own fiction/nonfiction suggestions. Just register to get timely email links to our meeting.
