Topic: Journey to the Antarctica 2022
Tour Guide: Joy Cheung
In December 2022, TVIH members, Joy and her husband, Frank, boarded the National Geographic Explorer expedition ship for a 16 day, once-in-a-lifetime, trip to Antarctica, the white continent. They experienced the 2 day turbulent crossing of the Drake Passage where the Pacific, Atlantic, and Southern Oceans converge.
Joy took thousands of photos and many videos. She also attended more than 10 lectures, given by the experienced expedition staff on a variety of topics including geology, marine biology, penguins, environmental conservation, tabular icebergs and photography.
Joy will show you the spectacular scenery (islands, cliffs, sea ice, icebergs), amazing wildlife (penguins, whales, seabirds, Weddell seals), and share with you what she learned about the Antarctica.
Bring your own supper, and an item to share among several people, either an appetizer or a dessert, savory or sweet.
Water and cold beverages will be provided.
