Host: Mark Wong and Deborah Burgio
Special Speaker: Lissette Pella
Today's topic: Howard County Community College Programs/ Benefits for Seniors
Our guest will beLisette Pella, the new Director of Personal Enrichment and 60+ Programs, at Howard Community College (HCC). Ms. Pella is an Adjunct Professor and has been affiliated with the college for over 11 years.
The current HCC enrichment and 60+ programs include: wellness; arts and crafts; history; literature; and writing courses. These courses align well with TVIH’s mission: to enable healthy aging for seniors 55 and older, both mentally and physically.
Ms. Pella is open to forming a collaborative relationship with TVIH to secure our input and to explore with us the possible expansion of existing programs, as well as the development of new courses at HCC in the future.
Fall registration is now open and can be done online at: www.howardcc.edu/programs-courses. Maryland residents ages 60+ receive a tuition waiver for many classes. Fees are not included. All classes will have a total course price listed, with the included fees listed beside it in parenthesis. For example, $40 (includes $20 in fees) - Age 60+ pay $20, under 60 pay $40; $64 (includes $45 in fees) - Age 60+ pay $45, under 60 pay $64; and $11 (fee based, no waivers) - All ages pay the same (in this case, $11).
Ms. Pella’s presentation will be followed with a question and answer period.
