About this event
This is a monthly program. Hebrew, German, French, Spanish, Norwegian, Hindi, Japanese, and Chinese classes will be offered on the third Wednesday each month.
Victoria Tsitlik, a former TVIH member and volunteer, will introduce the Russian language to us. We will learn the alphabets, simple words, sentence structure, pronunciation, words that sound the same in Russian and English, and phrases a tourist will need when traveling in Russia.
Vickie was born in the Soviet Union city of Yaroslavl, about 200 miles east of Moscow in 1941 in the heat of a fierce WWII battle for Moscow. After the war her family moved to Leningrad. She received her Master’s degree in Education (English) and taught college level courses. Vickie married a student in the PhD Electrical Engineering program. In 1976 at the age of 34, with her husband Joshua, her elderly parents and her 5-year-old daughter Anya, Vickie emigrated from the Soviet Union to the US. They were allowed to carry only $90 per person. The Jewish agency HIAS guided them in resettlement and supported them financially.
